“Balance turns flight into a perpetual paradox”
Game of Balance constructs a sophisticated
mechanical intelligence system, in a concise
mechanical logic, unfolding the complexities of
strategy, decision-making, and collaborative intelligence within a dynamic framework.
The core of the installation is a gigantic balance scale,
transformed by a bridge inspection robot, where a climbing
robot moves like weights along a steel track. In this system
governed strictly by classical mechanical laws, balance and
imbalance sustain a perpetual pendulum motion. The movement of
the weights, the mass of the steel balls, the length of the pipes,
the torque at the pivot, the meshing of gears, form precise strategies.
The system’s equilibrium becomes a consensus reached through the
dynamic tension of various parameters,reflecting the physical
manifestation of the Nash equilibrium in game theory, and a metaphor
for non-zero-sum games, revealing a dynamic strategic game of
balance and symbiosis. Meanwhile, the system evolves distorted
wings, attempting to escape this Game of Balance.
