「Gesture Cloud_Gesture Wall」
FEI Jun, Judith Doyle
2013
Gesture Cloud is a research project founded by
Judith Doyle (Toronto) and Fei Jun (Beijing) from
2008 to 2013. They have explored and developed
technology to capture and archive human
gestures, through their various artistic creations
and intervention, and they have also investigated
the possibilities of surplus value, energy
transformation, virtual labor and other social and
economic issues.
As one of many outputs from this research project,
Gesture Cloud _ Gesture Wall demonstrates
the possibility of using participants' gestures
to generate moving images and produce
artworks. The audience or passers-by participate
in the interaction with the "gesture wall" either
intentionally or unintentionally, and their gestures
are captured in real time by the body-sensing
device and a few dynamic gesture portraits are
drawn, just like "human pass by and leave a trace".
