“Gravity attempts to define eternity yet
the trembling springs fracture it”This work constructs a presence of order and chaos, through the physical dialogue of four elements: the vertical pendant embodying a symbol of gravitational authority; targets as an absolute vertical axis with its lingering shadow, forming an immovable spatial reference. The mechanical arm swings in a regular motion, simulating the linear logic of the industrial age, with its trajectory preset as a calculable, deterministic model. However, the embedded telescopic spring disrupts this mechanical order, introducing an elastic variable to create a nonlinear dynamic system. The hammer’s motion then follows an unpredictable, chaotic path. The vertical alignment of the pendant and the linear motion of the mechanical arm continuously deviate from their preset tracks, resulting in a dynamic confrontation. The relationship between the pendant’s shadow and the ground reference point becomes a real-time record of the struggle between gravitational authority and elastic variables. Ultimately, it deconstructs the certainty of Newtonian mechanics into a field of uncertainty.
