「The Calculated Wind」
SciArt Co-Lab
“Wind searches for its shape at each corner”
Wind is the oldest flow in the world, invisible and traceless, traversing time and space. A matrix of 240 speakers, through precise
computation, fabricate the perception of wind in the absence of it, representing its trajectory.
By employing spatialized audio synthesis and multi-channel control, the wind is dissected, computed, modeled, and synthesized
into an algorithmic experience. Its randomness is tamed by data, its freedom captured by technology. As wind, light, shadow, and
other natural and physical phenomena are synthesized, where do the boundaries between reality and illusion blur? Within the
framework of digital technology, are sound, motion, space, and even perception, emotion and memory, being redefined?
The wind has not truly blown, yet what you hear now, is it the wind itself, or a technological mirage?
