「The Significance of Significance」

These hammers, tirelessly engaged in their
mechanical repetition, mirror the ceaseless march
of human progress. Their frenzied strikes, futile
and impotent, embody the inherent absurdity of
existence, much like a spring-loaded nail forever
eluding complete immersion into the wood. The
purpose and significance of human actions remain
shifting. Yet, we easily ensnare ourselves in this vain
battle.
This fixation is not born of reason but the primal
human instinct for significance. It is as if we are
programmed to pursue an unending quest, unable
to extricate ourselves. However, perhaps the true
wisdom lies in releasing such fixation. As Camus
wrote in The Stranger, “On the solitary island
remaining in the world, the only celebration is the
surrender to the sea.”
